Browser "back" function not working

Postby japster on Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:48 pm

If you try to go "back" on your browser on this site you get the following message

Warning: Page has Expired The page you requested was created using information you submitted in a form. This page is no longer available. As a security precaution, Internet Explorer does not automatically resubmit your information for you.

To resubmit your information and view this Web page, click the Refresh button.

Can you fix it? Are you bob the builder :D

Hi John,

Technically it's not a bug with the MOM site but the way your (any) browser handles POST requests (ie data sent from within the body...think form fields). Standard HTPP requests use the GET method whereby data is sent in the URL. If you use the back button to go back to a page that has already sent data using the POST request then it will automatically ask you if you want to resubmit the information - as per the error message above. It can be overcome but I didn't write the software for this forum so I will not be changing it.

i think we'll leave it at that!

Ok no worries. There's a " return to previous page" on the bottom of the page anyway

thanks

ah, maybe mine dont work properly after all but was so used to it i didnt take any notice

if, only after i have posted a message i get this
Webpage has expired

Most likely cause:
•The local copy of this webpage is out of date, and the website requires that you download it again.

What you can try:
Click on the Refresh button on the toolbar to reload the page. After refreshing, you might need to navigate to the specific webpage again, or re-enter information.

all i do is press back again, got so used to doing it more than once anyway i hadnt bothered to read it before
